    Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This handsome 60-80' spreading tree is native to Arizona?s streams and canyons with its striking bark (which exfoliates in large jig-saw pieces of white and sage-green) and star-shaped leaves; a wonderful shade tree. S/M-W

Spectacular deciduous tree with smooth bark, contorted branches. Needs lots of summer water. This “Arizona Sycamore” is a large spreading deciduous tree to 80'. To encounter them in the canyons and gullies of southern Arizona was truly a treat, with their spectacular white bark and eerily contorted habit. In the wild, it is found growing only along watercourses in areas that get a lot of summer moisture - westerners take note! This tree is extremely cool if you have room for it. Or grow a bunch and give them away to your friends! Hardy to at least -15 °F. DS. Platanus wrightii [IB56]
