Nursery contributed plant descriptions

At least that's the name I'm selling it under. Northern California is home to a confusing array of manzanitas of all shapes and sizes, of which this is but one! If I had to take a wild guess at the parentage, I might say densiflora x manzanita - I could be way off. This collection by John I-forgot-his-last-name on a Colvos Creek Nursery plant expedition is attractive, vigorous and easy to grow, an excellent 'starter manzanita' for those who might be afraid of killing one. It has green leaves, the usual attractive red bark, and a rounded, spreading habit. Like all manzanitas, it will appreciate sharp drainage and a sunny aspect, but it is quite forgiving. It should handle at least 0 °F with ease. Vigorous evergreen shrub to 4' x 8'.
