Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Far up the Dungeness Canyon in the Olympic Mountains - where summer heat is much greater than close to the water - are some truly huge and impressive examples of hairy manzanita, growing into mounded shrubs 8' tall by 20' wide and wider. This collection at 3,200' altitude is from the most vigorous-looking of these monsters that I could find (a determination I make by observing the apparent amount of new growth per season); it also happens to be exceptionally hairy. I'm excited to see how this does in our garden; perhaps at our lower altitude it will grow into a tree. It should also be very cold-hardy.
