Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Traveling the wilds of northern California, I found a spectacular, huge manzanita with very blue foliage. I almost forgot about it, though, when I found this plant in the same area: an even larger tree, at least 16' tall, with large (2”) silvery leaves contrasting splendidly with the deep red trunk and branches, and very large, dark red fruit. Of course, now that I have rooted the cuttings and grown them on in pots, they have all turned green. But I am confident that once the plants are in the ground and larger, silver will be back. This collection will appreciate perfectly drained soil with absolutely no summer water. Coming from near the town of Mt. Shasta, at an elevation of about 2,600', it ought to be cold hardy to at least -15 °F.
