Nursery contributed plant descriptions

We have yet another Australian mystery plant. Lila at Fairmeadow Nursery kindly shared with us cuttings of this species which they had obtained under the name Leptospermum macrocarpum. Unfortunately for those of us who like to get plant names right, this specimen is not a match for L. macrocarpum in either leaf, flower or fruit. So basically we don't know what it is. But it is an appealing, vigorous, and trouble-free shrub (to 6' x 6'), and perhaps more importantly, was completely unfazed by a dip to 6 °F in December 2009 (which, in fact, occurred just BEFORE I was given the cuttings) – so it's super cold hardy!
