Callistemon sp. 'Waldport Hardy' is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In spring and summer pink and red flowers emerge followed by brown fruit. An attractive, large-growing red flowered Callistemon hybrid, presumably of C. subulatus or C. rigidus parentage, or possibly a species. This bottlebrush resembles C. subulatus, with reddish-pink flowers, but it is more upright in habit. It was not damaged in the freeze of December 1990 in Waldport, Oregon, when the temeprature dropped suddenly to 10 °F for several days after a long warm spell.
