Nursery contributed plant descriptions

VIOLET BOTTLEBRUSH (SOFT) - Blooming sporadically throughout the year, but most heavily in late winter to spring. The soft reddish purple bottlebrush like blooms are highly attractive to Hummingbirds. Likes full sun to part shade and this highly fragrant beauty may be container grown in well drained soil. Hardy zone 8-11, growing 8-10' tall and 6-8' wide at maturity. Very attractive
This provisional name is not an official botanical name, but it adequately describes the beautiful magenta flower color of this plant. It may be a seedling of C. citrinus 'Jeffersii' but it is certainly much hardier to cold than C. citrinus. It has an attractive upright habit with rather broad leaves. So far it has been totally hardy in my garden in Olympia; we shall see how low it can go. 12 °F.
