    Callistemon sieberi [prickly form] is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In spring cream flowers emerge followed by brown fruit. Attracts bees and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in average, clay, gritty and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant.

    Callistemon sieberi is one of the hardiest bottlebrushes, if not THE hardiest. It comes in many forms, but is always a small shrub with showy cream colored flowers and narrow leaves. This particular form is vigorous with a rather sparse growth habit unless pruned. Each leaf tapers to a sharp point resulting in a uniquely prickly plant. Although small and prickly, this bottlebrush is vigorous, showy in flower and extremely cold hardy, perhaps to as low as 0 °F. Use it to poke your neighbors when they walk along your sidewalk. . .just kidding.
