Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Rich cobalt blue bells bedeck this desert wildflower in Spring! True blue is the most sought after color in the plant world & the fact that this wildflower is native makes us treasure it all the more. The foliage of this form is particularly beautiful – often blushed purple & more vigorous than the species. Seed for this strain was generously gifted to us by nurseryman Jim Duggan – this form has persisted in his Southern California nursery & will self-sow in your gardens, too, given a sunny & not soggy site where the ground is open enough for seedlings to get a toe-hold. The next generation of self-sown seedlings will NOT need your water or care! If you’re struggling to grow it, poor drainage is a likely culprit – situate accordingly. Grows to 1’ high & wide. *Phacelias can cause dermatitis to folks sensitive to their fine hairs. If so, wear gloves & long sleeves when handling.
