The dark foliage of this new Penstemon acts as the perfect foil for the blushing pink tubular blooms. A selection of our native Penstemon digitalis. Great for butterflies, bees, & birds. Drought tolerant once established. Reseeds readily.
We are delighted with this new hardy Penstemon variety & its stand out, glossy purpley-black, dense, leafy mound 20” across & 1’ high. EASY, cold hardy & dependably long lived with strongly upright dark purple branchy stems, it bears from Spring thru Fall, a succession of 2” flaring lavender trumpets to 3’ tall. Really nice for adding contrast and a new cottagey charmer! Hummers! Gorgeous partnered with lime-foliaged strawberry Fragaria v. ‘Golden Alexandria or for a more cottagey look, combine with the silvery-blue leaves & pink bloom explosion of Dianthus ‘Rose de Mai’. Rich, composty soil. Excellent in containers (10+ gal) & deer resistant!

A fine and easy blooming fool of a Penstemon. This makes a good clump of green leafs tinted purplish which is a fine base for the numerous dark purple stems (which needs no staking) that bear large white flowers shaded lavender at the base. Foliage colors red in Fall.
