An easy-keeper and a beautiful one, at that!: from a furry rosette, this drought-tolerant, deer-proof(?), snail proof(?) and goof-proof perennial sends up an elegant 2' stalk of apricot-peach flowers. S/M-D/GDr
1" widely flaring blooms in pastel shades of cream, pink, and lavender are borne on tall spikes above the large, beautifully textured foliage. Blooms the first season. May experience summer dormancy but typically begins reblooming as temperatures cool in late summer. Drought tolerant once established.
I’m a firm believer in Verbascums for every garden & I love ‘Southern Charm’ not only for its mix of sophisticated colors, but because it’s super simple to grow & almost everblooming. If you cut back spent spikes it continuously sends up new ones 24”-30” tall & is elegant with single blooms of either chamois, dusty rose or apricot, with fuzzy, purple eyes. One of those wonderful plants that makes you feel very successful even though you’ve done absolutely nothing! It’s perennial too! Not fussy about soil, it blooms more with compost. Drought tolerant, deer AND snail resistant – you just can’t go wrong!
