Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Iridaceous species from South Africa with 15-50cm scapes of creamy flowers very different from the commercial Sparaxis most gardeners are familiar with.
Not all Sparaxis are harlequin hued – this subtle but seriously sturdy bulb is a creamy white. Well-suited to the girlier palate & lovely with pinks & baby blues. I look forward to this particular species every year & because every Spring there are more & more of them I don't find them too precious to incorporate into bouquets. Grows well in clay, pots, parking strips, raised beds - anywhere in sun! Also it doesn't seem to mind water during its Summer dormancy. To 16” tall, wider as bulbs increase themselves.
