Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Angelic, pure white flowers, at least 2” in their span, stand agape on 1’ stems on this lovely new cultivar of the always in demand Salvia patens. Unlike some Salvias I know, this one doesn’t need a giant plot to do its thing – it’s only 2’x2’. Salvia patens grows from perennial tubers, & dies back completely in winter, much like Dahlias. Its thick roots benefit from a garden plot with loose, loamy soil, & those of us in colder zones can dig & store the roots to sidestep the ravages of cold. Blooming from late Spring through Summer, Salvia patens ‘Trophy White’ can also be grown in pots, so long as the pots are big enough (5 gallons at least if you want to keep it happy for more than a season.) Tolerant of some shade.
