Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Widely distributed in the Andes from southern Columbia to Peru, Salvia corrugata features deeply puckered, dark green foliage. While newly emerging leaves have downy, copper-colored undersides, each mature lance-shaped leaf has a sheen on top and contrasting grayish tomentose below. Light gray-green, fuzzy stems are crowned with showy racemes of deep blue flowers held by violet calyxes. This distinctive, upright Salvia makes a great specimen for the mixed border.
An evergreen shrub with attractive corrugated foliage felted on the underside. Short panicles of ultramarine flowers produced over a long period. Native to Ecuador. Keep moist but well drained. Protect from strong wind.

A handsome upright perennial 4-5' tall with a lesser spread bearing large, darkest green leaves that are deeply quilted and highly textural. Midnight blue flowers appear in fall on this architectural species. Hardy to 25F. Peru.
Striking Central American species, these beautiful, evergreen shrubs have rusty stems and shiny patent leather, narrow oval leaves surrounded and underset by a rich copper indumentum. Autumn flowers are lilac and white. Can reach 4-5 ft but easily kept to a smaller size. Full sun to medium shade in nearly any soil conditions. Superb for containers and annual planting, or as a permanent feature in gardens where temperatures seldom fall to 25F, mid USDA zone 9. Easily propagated from cuttings at the end of the season.
I adore Salvia corrugata for its nicely rounded 4’ x 4’ form, very cool foliage & velvety deep blue flowers. You’ll admire its attractive oval shaped deep olive green quilted foliage, too! All stems are topped with 4” upright clusters of rich, deepest blue blooms, late Summer through Fall. Easy to grow in full sun & rich well-drained soil, it also makes an excellent container plant due to its evergreen-ness & wonderfully dense form. Hummers love it, too!
