Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Perhaps the best primula for Midwestern gardens, they laugh at summer heat, flowers are huge in a wide range of colors very Victorian looking with subtle shadings, if you have never grown auriculas give these a try you will not be disappointed. ZONE 5
A recently re-discovered “giant” form of the very old (since 1582), much beloved garden auricula. This one has bigger blooms in mixed purples, blue, yellows, creams & burgundies with very attractive, rounded, flat flowers & white or yellow eyes. Some have white edging & all are sweetly honey-scented. To 8” tall, the flowers are borne on upright stems mid to late Spring & MUCH LONGER if you live near the coast! The leaves are smooth, oval & mid-green in rosettes. Tolerates full sun but prefers shade/semi shade. Rich loam is best - top dress with compost occasionally.
