Nursery contributed plant descriptions

I was never particularly thrilled with “Cape Fuchsia” even though it’s so EASY, DROUGHT TOLERANT & adored by hummingbirds. The flower colors were just too dull for me! Now, with so many new colors appearing in the trade, especially this bright & pretty magenta-rose variety from the Santa Cruz Arboretum, I’m finding them quite desirable & am planting them in my garden. To 2’ x 2,’ ‘Magenta’ displays lots of long lasting loosely clustered tubular blooms on upright spikes from June to September. Especially great for bringing cheery color to low maintenance & dry gardens during Summer. The deep green, evergreen foliage is attractive, too. Provide well-drained soil with compost added & cut back to 6” in Winter. South African native.
