Phlomis russeliana is a broadleaf evergreen or semi-evergreen perennial groundcover with green foliage. In spring and summer yellow flowers emerge. Features fuzzy texture. Attracts bees, beneficial insects, butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - dappled shade and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in average, lean and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and seaside / salt tolerant.

This totally tough western Syria native resists deer, handles droughty conditions & stays pretty through it all. Butterfly & bee approved large, 3” clusters of yellow flowers form pom-pom like fuzzy balls along branch tips late Spring through early Summer. Velvety, heart-shaped leaves form a rosette that slowly spreads. To 3.5’ tall & 4-5’ wide. Leave the spent seed heads on the plant to provide some Winter interest!

Evergreen Phlomis which forms an excellent tall ground cover, perfect for banks, with rough, large, heart-shaped leaves. Stout flowers stems have whorls of hooded flowers of butter-yellow. "One of the few Phlomis species where it is worth leaving the flower stems right through the winter precisely for the (above) magical effect in severe frost", says the Mann-Taylor website. Very long blooming, late spring to early autumn! Pale yellow blooms above heart-shaped foliage. Tough, easy to grow and adds structure to the garden.
