Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Luxurious, thick, soft, deepest burgundy, 15” spikes are held upright above gorgeous, bold, almost black foliage. This wonderful “vertical grass accent” is an absolute must have for all you creative, artistic gardeners! It grows 3’ to 5’ tall & beautifully accentuates just about anything grown in front of it. A couple of suggestions: try it with Emilia javanica, Nicotiana langsdorfii or German Catchfly ‘Blue Pearl.’ You’ll love how soft & pettable the spikes are & they make excellent cut flower material. DON’T WORRY that the foliage looks green when small, it WILL turn black as it grows larger. Do plant 2 or 3 or more together, as it is not that wide (only 1’ or so) & a multiple planting is just to die for. Full sun & rich soil is a must. Here along the Bay in USDA zone 9 & 10, this fab find over-winters & behaves as a perennial. Woo-hoo!
