Nursery contributed plant descriptions

No, this double Nasturtium will not come true from seed, and so must be propagated by cuttings. 'Margaret Long', shared with us by Kris and Gail at Blithewold, has lovely apricot orange double flowers, and prefers cooler weather. She will get quite tempermental and swoon when the weather starts to bake, so it's best to enjoy her loveliness in mid-late spring and then move her into a cool spot once the heat causes her to melt. 8-10" tall, with compact trailing stems.
This to-die-for double Nasturtium first appeared as a sport of the double red Nasturtium-Hermine Grashof’. Growing in the garden of Margaret Long’s mother near Dublin, Ireland in the 1970’s. We have Margaret and her friends to thank for propagating this wonderful plant and we are so lucky that it has found its way to us! Heart-melting, soft apricot blooms, 2” across are well displayed above the bright green leaves and bloom quite generously from late Spring thru Fall. In full sun it makes a nice dense mound 12” tall and 30” across, in part sun it will trail much farther. Grow against black foliage Anthriscus slyvestris Raven’s Wing and or blue Wahlenberg sp. ‘Blue Cloud for an amazing display. Perennial with protection from frost. Rich, well drained soil.
