Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Bright rosy-magenta-pink flowers literally cover this fine upright shrub in spring. This bush makes a pretty picture with its multi-trunked form which reaches 10-12' high and as wide. This fine selection of redbud is completely seedless and it has good resistance to Botryosphaeria canker. A very exciting selection from the National Arboretum. S/M-D/GDr
Gorgeous deciduous shrub/small tree, upright growth 10-12’ on this Chinese Redbud with attractive heart shaped, glossy foliage; early clusters of mauve rose flowers emerge on stems and branches March April, very profuse and showy! This cultivar is sterile and does not produce those long brown seed pods seen on other Red buds. Easy in average well drained soils with medium moisture in sun to part shade (dislikes clay and drought). Tolerant of black walnut.
Covered with vivid, rosy mauve flowers in early spring. Slow growing, compact habit with dark green foliage. Growth Rate slow.
TRAFFIC-STOPPING, electric pink blooms smother the branches of this compact, rounded, small tree in early spring. Long-lasting flowers are replaced by large, dark green, heart shaped leaves that cast dense shade and turn rich yellow in autumn. Mature heigh of 10 x 10 ft. in 15 years makes it an excellent choice for courtyards, small gardens and large containers. This seedless, adaptable disease resistant tree needs good drainage; growing well in hot, dry areas in full sun or in partial shade. Named for Don Egolf who developed this remarkable U.S. National Arboretum introduction.
Whoever told us magenta was a vulgar color never encountered Cercis 'Don Egolf'! Knock- your-socks-off glowing magenta flowers (call them fuchsia if you must) cover the plant, which is usually more of a shrub form than the tree form US native C. canadensis. I have to say redbud leaves have sometimes been eaten at my place, but this is one plant I would not want to be without come Spring!

Named in honor of the illustrious American shrub breeder Don Egolf, this compact free flowering treasure has a lot to offer. Its clustered, bright rosy mauve blooms gather
This is a nice improvement in Chinese Redbud introduced by the National Arboretum in 2000. It is fairly dwarf for the type, has abundunt blooms, and no seed pods. Flower color is more pinkish red than typical.

This is a beautiful dwarf and compact Chinese Redbud that produces an outstanding early spring show of rich purplish-pink blossoms that seem to emerge from every available spot along the stems and trunk of this small tree. The dwarf compact habit of this upright to rounded small deciduous tree makes it perfect for smaller spaces. Another excellent introduction from the US National Arboretum! Extremely heat tolerant with very few pests or disease problems. Moderate drought tolerance once well established. For best performance provide good drainage.
Boastfully clothed from top to bottom with bright pink blossoms in spring. Deciduous small tree 12' tall with yellow fall color.
Brilliant pink flowers cover this plant from toe to head. Named for the great plant breeder, Don Egolf.
