Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A beloved old plant once called Mullein Pink and Lamp flower. Brilliant magenta coloring contrasts with silver gray, woolly leaves on bushy branching stems. An easy to grow, long-blooming and low maintenance plant, great for dry, neglected spots in the garden. Summer bloom. Self sows.
A long-standing border plant with grey foliage that sets off the magenta flowers to great effect. Long-flowering. Try it with Geranium psilostemon for excitement or Salvia 'Purple Rain' to cool things down a bit. For a sharper contrast try it with Potentilla recta and Anthemis. Easy and self seeds. I have seen this species escaped along roadsides on Pender Island. If you would like to grow this plant in similar habitats choose the cultivar 'Gardener's World' which is sterile.
THIS is the old-fashioned “Crown Pink” or “Rose Champion”. Bright magenta 1” flowers are borne on long stalks above attractive, wooly white foliage, Spring thru Summer bloom. EASY! It does well in bright shade. Grows 1-2' tall. Poor soil OK. Looks great combined with Geranium 'Bill Wallis'. Reseeds!
