Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Bibb lettuce (a variety with tender but crisp leaves) is considered a delicacy among lettuces & ‘Buttercrunch’ has won an award in that category for its excellence. It makes a 6” rosette of green leaves with an occasional tinge of red on their edges. The leaves are so tightly bunched up that they blanch the center a buttery-white. This heart is indeed very crunchy. And sweet. Delicious! And because the leaves are smooth & don't collect dirt in any frills, they are easy to clean. Plant 6” apart in fertile garden soil & keep well watered until the rains start.
