Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The perfect little lettuce for small gardens & window boxes. ‘Little Gem’ has been popular with serious lettuce lovers for a long time. A butter head/romaine combo with dark green leaves that are sweet but a little nuttier in flavor than butter head lettuces, it is also crunchy like romaine lettuce. ‘Little Gem’ is a versatile lettuce that is particularly unique cut in half and drizzled with salad dressing as a one-person-serving. Good cut in quarters and used in stir-fries, as leaves on an open-face sandwich or chopped up for mixed salads. Plant 6” apart in good garden soil and harvest when around 5” across and 6-8” tall.
