Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Celestial blue-lavender blooms with a delicate & unique grape-soda scent are borne in late Spring on this perennial Sweet Pea species from South America. Unlike some other perennial Lathyrus, this one is not a rabid thug, but it is well adapted to our Mediterranean clime & once established it can take some drought. Stems climb to 5’ & though plants do flower in their first year, they are more specious & generous with their blooms in years two & up, carrying up to fifteen 1” blooms per stem! Often, plants will be Summer dormant. Provide support – either a trellis or an open-stemmed shrub, for this beauty to climb!
