Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Wanna think you’ve died & gone to heaven? This super rare South African member of the Iris family makes flowers so beautiful, they must have fallen down from some celestial garden. Though rather small, size doesn’t matter here - their fascinating form & extremely intense, rich, deep & bright purple flowers, set off by the white & black central pinwheels will make you gasp. It’s a shorty, only about 3” tall, but who cares? Put it in a clay pot with well-drained soil & like most Cape bulbs, let it go dry in Summer. IMPORTANT: Plants we offer are in their second year, & most will flower not this year, but the year following. In years when this plant does not bloom, it puts out only a single, slender leaf, & looks very dissimilar to the way the plant emerges in a blooming year!
