Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Wide ranging on the southern cape on flats and mountain slopes flower color ranges from pink to purple to blue and all white.
A very charming bulb with nice long flower stems that would be fantastic in flower arrangements! The stems can get to be 2-3’ tall & with a 3-4” cluster of flowers at the top. Flower color is variable, ranging from pink, purple to white. The flowers often have dark centers. Very narrow plant - only about 6” wide. Would look great planted between blue-foliaged grasses such as Agropyron magallanicum. The blooms would rise above & the grasses would help hide the Ixia foliage as it begins to fade. Blooms in late Spring & looks nice swaying in the wind on those long stems. Native to S. Africa, these bulbs are adapted to a dry summer so they will go dormant at that point. Withhold water when dormant.
