Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Wild collected in China, like so much of what comes out of China the name is open for debate; these flowered for the first time in 2003 and created quite a stir here, flat white flowers intricately marked with blue blotching and speckling, it seems fairly growable and is definitely exotic looking. ZONE 7
A striking crested species of Iris from Southern China! Growing to 2’ tall & spreading vigorously by rhizomes, the spring green, fan like leaves grow tall on stalks that rise above the ground & become bamboo-like with age. I’ve heard varied reports about snail damage for this species – some say that its snail food, & other say it’s snail proof! Bait just in case. Large panicles of fringed white flowers marked with lavender & yellow appear profusely in March through May, & the rest of the year the glossy foliage remains lush & immaculate. Tolerates both drought & moisture, & would be a great choice for problematic dry shade!
