Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A home gardener found this early-flowering version of sky blue morning glory with heart-shaped leaves, and recognizing its importance, saved its seeds. It came to the attention of a Dutch seedsman who increased the stock and offered it under the name of 'Clarke's Early Heavenly Blue' in the early 1930s. It quickly became the most planted morning glory, then and today.
I never see annual Morning Glories around anymore. Do you think everyone’s been scared off by the perennial, house-eating “Blue Dawn Flower” (I. learii) or have folks just forgotten about them? Well, I’m here to remind you there is nothing so romantic as a grand display of these almost turquoise, 3-4” flowers in the garden. They last for months & readily self-sow for next season. Lovely heart shaped leaves, too! Rich soil is best, roots in the shade. Due to Agricultural Restrictions we cannot ship this plant to Arkansas, Arizona, Michigan, Oklahoma, or Texas.
