Nursery contributed plant descriptions

We are one of the only sources for this petite epiphytic species from Rwanda & neighboring countries. Perfect in a small pot, it blooms almost continually when not hampered by cold weather. Blooms are produced at leaf axils amidst the small, green leaves, & are an intense scarlet with a hooked green “bill” & curlicue spur. Some Impatiens species have garden domination in mind (see Impatiens glandulifera) but this 1'x1' cutie has no such plans. If you plant it in the ground make sure that you don't overcrowd it, & keep it misted, but not overwatered, as the roots were made to anchor the plant to tree trunks & not to contend with wet soil. One of the only things we grow that could be a legitimate houseplant! Protect from frost. Note: Generally, species Impatiens prefer cool Summer climates with little frost, and suffer in areas with too much heat and humidity!
