Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A vigorous perennial for damp shade, growing to 3 ft in height and 3 ft or more in spread, with 2", glossy leaves and relatively large, cupped, rich lavender-blue flowers over a long season. Spreads by short tubers in rich soil with regular water. Tough enough to tolerate some dry shade. A wonderful spiller for containers. Frost hardy in USDA zone 7, possibly colder with mulch.
A new form of one of our toughest, hardiest & most garden worthy Impatiens species! This form shares many characteristics of the plain species, but the flowers are a softer, powdery blue-purple in color, 2” wide & have a more bell shaped profile. The plant is also different in habit – it has less of a tendency to run, & is more upright (as the name suggests, right?) to 3’x3’. It’s still a vigorous & easy to grow plant, blooming from spring through frost, & because it goes more upwards than outwards, the blooms are easier to see! Rich soil & regular water for best show, but can also take duress – this species is known to survive in (deadly) dry shade! Gasp!
