Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This stunning, heavily double, snow white hellebore is very special, extremely vigorous and floriferous (up to 100 blooms on a mature plant). Mrs. Betty was found by chance in a garden in Tasmania and named after a fine Tasmanian plantswoman. This is a seed strain with an almost 100% chance of double flowers. Deer resistant. Perennial Plant of the Year 2005.
Discovered in a Tasmanian garden, ‘Mrs. Betty Ranicar’ has flowers in a most delicious & enchanting double white, & is sure to make you swoon! Like most all Hellebores, she’s a rockstar when it comes to dealing with the most difficult garden situation – dry shade. Nothing but nothing likes growing in dry shade, but Hellebores deal better than most, & are a must-have for any shady garden, as they are durable, deer resistant, drought tolerant, & provide winter interest! ‘Betty’ gets to be 1’x1’, & almost always comes true from seed! Average water & occasional compost makes for better & bigger plants, but they need little more than a bit of snail bait now & then to keep them looking perfect year-round.
