Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Though it is a collector’s delight, this very rare sub-alpine South African perennial – hardy to Zone 6 – is easy to grow! To about 2’ tall & multi-stemmed from a woody base, you’ll be thrilled with its highly unusual blooms! Summer is when it happens – the upright fuzzy stems burst into miniature fireworks & the pendulous clusters of creamy tubular flowers open into the brightest orange petals. Excitante! In its native habitat, this evergreen perennial grows near rocky streams, so it doesn’t like to dry out. Grow it in sun/part sun in moist, rich, well drained soil. Fun in a container (at least 12” across) where you can view the pyrotechnics close up!
