Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Native to Coastal Northern California as well as various British Columbia, Korea & China, Glehnia littoralis can be seen growing along the beaches, sitting perfectly atop the sand with glossy leaves, 6-9” tall & wide, & in Spring, space-like & complex umbels of white flowers. The seeds that follow are just as interesting, with geometric winged margins. This species has applications in Chinese herbal medicine, & has been over-harvested in that part of the world for this reason. There is little known information on the cultivation issues with this species, except that it needs consistently moist soil, & (of course!) tolerates coastal exposures.
