Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This little local provides months of color in the Spring, Summer & even the Fall! Short in stature, this long lived annual can be found growing in sandy dunes along much of California’s coastline & sometimes inland. Survives well in regular garden soil, too & puts on a long show of thimble sized flower clusters in a vivid cornflower blue over ferny green leaves. An excellent plant for the front of the border & lovely naturalized in a rock garden setting. Just 6” high & wide, Gilia capitata ssp. chamissonis is also just the right size to put in a small pot. Adapts to many soil types, but prefers good drainage.
