Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Our penchant for wild plants led us to this choice, wildflowery Chilean species! A perennial from wild stock that has shown excellent vigor & disease resistance, it blooms first year from seed & over a long period – Summer through Fall. Foliage is shiny & toothed, mounding to about one foot. Blooming stems reach almost 3’, with simple single orangey-red flowers. Dark, soft seed heads persist & add interest after the petals fall & the leaves are handsome even when the plant is not in bloom. Not particularly drought tolerant, as it hails from moist meadows, but it is hardy enough to handle snow cover! Rich soil is better, but not requisite.
