Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A very rare shrubby species from Columbia with 1” vermillion trumpet flowers borne in upward facing clusters from Spring thru Fall, brilliant green leaves that contrast nicely with the flower color & an upright habit. Fuchsia hartwegii seems to appreciate more sun than many of the Fuchsias we grow. Provide rich soil & good drainage. I’ve seen it go deciduous in cold but it sprang back just fine in Spring, so protection from frost is advised, but no more so than for any other Fuchsia. Grows from 2’-3’ tall.
