Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Beautiful in bloom & bud, this small low-maintenance, drought tolerant, tree makes a truly showy specimen for a small garden or a street planting. Growing to 12’ with a rounded shape, “Fuchsia Gum” is much prized for its highly ornamental, pendulous, bright scarlet-red buds that look so much like Fuchsia flowers in full bloom. Yellow filaments/flowers emerge from buds in large bunches for months in Summer; and the attractive pods remain for months after, providing excellent cut flower material. Drought tolerant once established, E. forrestii needs no fertilizer & is both wind & clay soil tolerant, though well-drained soil is usually recommended. Frost hardy to 23-27 °F.
