Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This South American sea holly forms a large and very striking rosette of glossy, prickly, evergreen serrated leaves. These are topped with an intriguing thee to six foot inflorescence of white and green flowers. Very cool. This peculiar genus from the carrot family is found around the world but with its centre of diversity in South America. There are also a number of European species.
Spiny rosette of green leaves and flower stems that reach 5' tall.
Another thistle relative that looks something like an Agave, this one has smaller, darker green leaves of more refined rosettes. It may grow into a sizeable clump and actually looks a lot like a little Puya or Fascicularia! It is hardy to at least -10 °F and will grow in any soil in part to full sun. South America.
Totally trendy! And seen in many designer-fantasy type gardens. This EASY & exotic Eryngium provides excellent bold form & texture to the garden. Easily mistaken for a Yucca when not in bloom, as it forms dense clumps of neat, narrow, sword-shaped, spiny-but-not-too-painful leaves. In late Spring it begins to form numerous, long stalked, branching stems bearing lots of ivory white, marble-like flowers, 3/4” across. Eryngium eburneum grows 3’ to 6’ tall & prefers some watering & well-drained soil. Very showy in a large container & makes a fab cut flower, fresh or dried. Attracts butterflies, too.
