    Epiphyllum 'Space Rocket' is an evergreen cactus / succulent with green foliage. In spring magenta flowers emerge. Attracts hummingbirds. Grows well with mostly sun - dappled shade and regular water. Prefers to be dry in winter. Does well in well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant, humidity tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

    Breathtaking in flower, this magenta flowered epiphytic cactus needs little care to produce its jaw dropping blooms in late Spring. Average-low water in loose draining soil, only occasional feeding & protection from extreme cold is all that's required for the plant to produce the majestic 5-7” blooms. This hybrid bears racy hot-pink flowers with a radiating orangey-yellow center. You can see the trails of fire as the rocket blasts into space! Gorgeous! Epiphyllums make great hanging basket plants & the angular foliage looks good year round. Best situated under an overhang or tree to provide some extra frost protection. We are growing these plants in VERY limited quantity, so if you're thinking about getting one, don't hesitate! From the collection of Strybing Arboretum.
