Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Sweetheart' blooms with dense spikes of dark and light pink flowers. Removing spent flower spikes will result in another round of blooms on secondary spikes in late summer and fall. Its large, deeply incised leaves make this plant attractive even when it's not in bloom. Selected in New Zealand, the New Millennium delphinium strains outperform all other tall types and offer some astonishingly rich shades of purple, dark blue, sky blue, pink, dusty rose, lavender, white and white with green. The stems are strong and the plants are generally longer lived than other tall delphiniums. Photo courtesy of Dowdeswell's Delphiniums Ltd
Huge spiked & strongly perennial, this glorious bright pink variety is brought to us (once again) by New Zealand Delphinium breeder extraordinaire Terry Dowdeswell. This “New Millenium” variety is far superior to the commonly available “Pacific Giants.” They can easily reach 6’ tall & by its second year as much as 4’ across. Extra large, bright-pink blooms with a white “bee” are held compactly to make large 3’ spikes & unbelievable cut flowers. Long blooming if you cut the spent spikes. You can cut it back to 6” tall (then add some compost) for a second glorious display. Rich well-drained soil.
