Cotyledon barbeyi is a semi-evergreen cactus / succulent with green foliage. In spring and summer orange and red flowers emerge. Features glaucous texture. Grows well with sun and regular - low water. Prefers to be dry in summer, dry in winter. Does well in average, gritty and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant.
With crisp-green, oval-shaped foliage & large clusters of orangey-red flowers, this Cotyledon would be a great addition to many planting schemes. The coarse texture of the leaves will compliment finer textures like red-leaved Sedum ‘Voodoo’ or even look pretty with a grass like Stipa arundinacea. Then the blooms are an added plus. Clusters of large, pendulous, urn-shaped flowers would be cool in a bouquet. Blooms in late Spring. Grows 3-4’ tall & wide. From Eastern & Southern Africa. Needs good drainage.
