Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A variety of the native prairie flower with yellow blooms marked with burgundy-red. ‘Tiger Stripe’ was described in 1823. Its beautiful fresh-green foliage and long-lasting flowers grace the summer and fall garden.
A delightful heirloom variety of “Calliopis” first reported in 1885. The radiating star-like flowers come in shades from orange to mahogany, and are fascinatingly striped & spotted with gold. “Calliopsis” is super EASY to grow. Just sun, some water, and average garden soil will do it. This one grows to 10” tall and is very multi-branching. Long bloom season and an exciting cut flower. Everyone will want to know what it is!
