Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Have I mentioned how much I love plants with kinetic tendencies? Be it night-blooming, day-blooming, motion sensing or what have you! Anything that gives me a sense of the time is especially welcome in my garden! In late afternoon this chunky little succulent opens its lemon yellow flowers to say “Hello!” Like many mesembs, they are slightly sea-creature like & their opening reminds me of sea anemones when the tide comes in. This South African succulent has green lance-shaped leaves & will eventually form a thick & fleshy rootstock that can be raised above the soil line & grown as a caudex specimen. Love! Hardiness untested, but probably USDA Zone 9 is safe. Grows up to 6” wide & tall.
