Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Elizabeth Lawrence wrote of this in 1942, "on sultry mornings flowers of Hibiscus Manihot Sunset look as cool as lemon ice." This rare flower of soft yellow with a dark burgundy eye unfurls from teardrop-shaped buds. Its lobed leaves resemble maple leaves. Watered during dry spells, they will flower abundantly until frost. Listed in an 1894 catalog. Tolerates humid heat.
Are you a flower floozie? Do you want to fall in love again? Well this one will delight you - guaranteed! Big & glorious, 5" - 6" across, pale yellow Hibiscus type flowers with deep burgundy & garnet eyes, will give new meaning to your life (and your garden). Growing to 5' tall & 3’ wide, this stout and almost woody annual bears magnificent, tropical looking leaves, and so it looks cool even before it blooms mid-summer. Because of its' stateliness, it would look particularly nice along side a garden gate or against a weathered fence.
