An unusual, thornless & hardy member of the Acacia family, “Fern Acacia” forms a small rounded shrub 1-3’ tall & 1-3’ across with attractive & delicate fern-like foliage which closes at night & when touched. Native to regions of Missouri & South to Costa Rica, this tough & adaptable shrub forms a deep taproot making it an attractive & sensible choice for a DROUGHT TOLERANT GROUNDCOVER & for controlling soil erosion on slopes. The round white flowers, appearing Summer into Fall are much visited by butterflies. Deciduous. Average-rich well drained soil.
