Attracts hummingbirds. Long blooming: sun to part shade.
Here you go hot & dry gardeners! Extremely showy “Skyrocket” is found growing in the eastern portions of our state. LOVES IT HOT, DRY & INFERTILE. Starting in Spring & peaking in mid-Summer, this hard to find CA native (biennial) sends up numerous erect spikes to 3’ tall, nicely displaying vivid red (rarely pink or white) good-sized flaring trumpet flowers, many to a stalk. Down below on the ground lies the pretty neat & tidy clump of finely divided deep green ferny foliage. An undeniable show stopper, it usually blooms in year one here at the nursery. Dry gardens & containers are best. Hummingbird magnet! Self-sows!
