Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Densely silkily shaggily silver-haired, the 5-6"leaves of this beautiful foliage plant form a large, showy silver-white rosette topped in summer by 2-3' stalks of creamy flowers; short-lived but can reseed. S/D/GDr
Silver sage (Salvia argentea) is a clump-forming biennial or short-lived perennial that is so worth it for the large, wooly, silver foliage. In its second year it produces branched flowering stems with large, white, hooked sage flowers. Plants may reseed to continue your population. Though silver sage is a biennial it is beautiful and novel and well worth growing. Great for kids.
This bold Mediterranean native serves up a remarkable portion of eye catching appeal on its almost platter-sized, soft and silky white, felted foliage. Emerging in a dramatic basal clump, new leaves are crinkled, but flatten as they grow, while their margins retain a sinuous wave. A spectacular showing of dramatic 2 to 3 ft. candelabralike stems are decorated in small, white, hooded flowers, each with a slight tinge of pink and a subtle grayish calyx. After the bloom, leaves transmute to a pale gray-green, and when cooler weather returns, they turn silvery once again. Positively show-stopping along a dry wall, or in the herb garden with Lavender and Rosmarinus 'Maltese White', Salvia argentea demands well drained soil, tolerates drought, and will live longer if spent flower stalks are attentively removed.
Huge flat rosettes of incredibly fuzzy Lambs Ear foliage, it sends up a spectacular branching candelabrum of white flowers. Individual rosettes go monocarpic after flowering but in can be induced to produce offsets that will live on and flower in a year or two; ad infinitum.
Remarkable for its large felty silver leaves that look fabulous in contrast with fine textured grasses and petite flowers. Easy to grow in well-drained soils, the leaf rosettes send up many-branched trusses of white flowers the second year.
Bold furry silver foliage plants the first year make this a surprising accent for sunny pots. Salvia argentea is a biennial and will bloom if set out in the garden during it's second season, with spikes of white salvia flowers.
This is a superlative foliage plant with elephant ear leaves covered with long, silky white hairs. The white, helmet-shaped flowers are produced on candelabra-like stems in early summer. This is a dramatic accent plant for the water-smart garden or perennial border, originating in the eastern Mediterranean region. Perennial. Xeriscape. Easy in almost any good soil. USDA zones 4a-10 (up to 8,000').
Silver Sage. Leaves so silken soft that you want to line your slippers with them. Fabulous big rosette of shimmering foliage the first year and then a branched flower stem with lots of white flowers. Usually biennial, we've had it keep going for 4 years now. Easy from seed. Good drainage.
A stunning drought tolerant visual & textural accent, “Silver Sage” is also quite cuddly, as its large, wavy leaves are garbed in soft downy fuzz. Forming a large low rosette to 3' across, place it right up front in your garden where everyone will be able to notice it & touch it & where it will receive the excellent drainage it requires. Dramatic & showy 3' or taller candelabra stems bearing white hooded flowers appear in Summer, but do remove before they go to seed to give extra years of life to this unusual Sage.
