    Silene regia is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In summer orange and red flowers emerge. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and regular water. Does well in rich and well-drained soil.

    Also known as Prairie Fire the crimson red flowers attract Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds and Black Swallowtail butterflies. Plant this beauty in rich, well-drained soil, in full sun, for a fantastic floral display. Royal Catchfly, Silene regia, is found in only a few isolated locations in the Midwest, our plants have been selected for the past 15 years for cold hardiness. Hardy to Zones 4 - 9.

    A rare & endangered Silene native to certain prairie regions of Illinois. Quite the regal plant, it grows 2’ to 3’ tall & from July thru August is topped by clusters of bright scarlet star-flowers, 1” across. The flowers emerge from a 1” long, tubular calyx & display long stamens & contrasting grayish-white anthers. Rhizomatic, it forms small colonies & will bloom the first year, becoming larger & showier each year. Best in loamy or loamy-clay. LOVED BY BUTTERFLIES & HUMMINGBIRDS!
