Zn 9. Gray-green foliage, Purple flowers.
Shrubby widely-branching perennial to 8' with lanceolate, silvery-pubescent leaves. Spike-like clusters of bluish-purple flowers stand out dramatically above the foliage in spring. Annual deadheading is necessary to maintain an attractive form. Hardy to 20 °F. Madeira.
A medium evergreen shrub tolerant of dry conditions. Rosettes of lance shaped silver-green foliage are produced on woody branches to form a dense mound. In spring fat spikes of brilliant blue flowers appear from the centre of each rosette. Excellent.

We are so lucky here along the coast of California, to be able to grow this plant straight out of “Fantasia.” Huge, dramatic, blue-purple spikes appear on the end of upward curving branches in Spring. Does well in POOR, DRY SOIL, but does need drainage. 3’-6’ tall and wide. No summer water in Zone 16-17 needed once established. Canary Island native.
