Nursery contributed plant descriptions

From the Drakensberg region of eastern S. Africa, this buddleja relative grows 4-6' with soft gray leaves of a narrow 1" or so and white warm-season flowers. A plant, unfortunately, people seem to stay away from in droves when in nursery containers, it really is a lovely garden plant. Really. Bright sun, occasional summer water. We cut ours back every year or two to maintain luxuriant growth. Frost hardy to USDA zone 7. Scrophulariaceae
A fragrant South African Buddleia relative for the water garden! The slender grey branches create a 4-6’ tall & 2-4’ wide shrub with a broom appearance (but without the invasiveness) & it is covered with small scented white flowers Spring through Fall. It grows naturally into an arching vase shape, but if needed, pruning it can make it more bushy. “Otterbush” grows naturally between boulders at the edges of streams, making it a fine overhanging feature plant at the edge of a pond. A well watered large pot will also suit it. Hardy to 0-20 °F (sources disagree) but an established plant will recover fast whether it is cut back by clippers or frost.
